How to Play

Follow the steps below to start playing Daily 4 - you could be the next big MI Lottery winner!

Bet Types

Here's a rundown of the Pick 4 bet types - each one has its own rules about how your numbers can make a winning match with the numbers drawn to score a prize. Depending on the bet type, you may win if you to match the numbers in the exact order drawn, in any order, or even if you almost have a match but are off by one digit.

Straight - Match the winning numbers in the exact order they're drawn.

Box - Match the winning numbers in any order. You can play 4-way, 6-way, 12-way or 24-way, depending on the amount of winning combinations that your numbers can make. For example, if you choose one unique number and three identical numbers, like 1222, that's a 4-way box, since there are four ways to win: 1222, 2221, 2122, or 2212.

Wheel - Match the numbers drawn in any order. Wheel is a $1 play on each straight bet available for your numbers, so it has a higher cost than other play types. Like box, a wheel bet may be 4-way, 6-way, 12-way, or 24-way depending on the number of winning sequences.

2-Way - Win by matching the numbers drawn as straight (exact order) or box (any order). The $1 wager cost is divided into two $0.50 bets (straight and box). How many unique or identical numbers you choose determines whether your play is 4-way, 6-way, 12-way, or 24-way according to the number of winning combinations.

1-Off - In this bet type, it pays to be almost right. Win a prize if you make a straight match with the numbers drawn or if one of your numbers is one digit off, up or down, from the winning numbers.

Double Draws

During special, limited-time promotions, some Daily 4 games feature Double Draws (also known as Bonus Draws). This gives your numbers a second chance to win at absolutely no extra cost, and you don’t need to do anything differently to play.

The method for selecting when a Double Draw takes place can vary, but the Michigan Lottery often uses an exciting "Red Ball" draw. To start, five white balls and one red ball are loaded into a drum. If a white ball is selected, a Double Draw does not happen that day, but that white ball is removed for the next day. This process continues daily, narrowing down the pool and increasing the odds of drawing the red ball.

When the red ball is finally drawn, a second Daily 4 drawing happens right then and there, giving you an immediate bonus shot at winning. The very next day, all six balls are placed back into the drum, and the cycle repeats until the promotional period ends.
